Has Nicole's Nickels Helped You?

If Nicole's Nickels has helped you, then USA Weekend wants to know about it! USA Weekend (the magazine in your Sunday papers) is looking for money-saving tips and a "terrific blog or website that's loaded with great money-saving ideas".

Since my goal is to share Nicole's Nickels with as many people as possible (I think everyone can find a way to save or make money on my site!) I would appreciate if you took the time to fill this short USA Weekend form out. Make sure to put in your favorite money-saving tip as well as information about Nicole's Nickels if I've helped you!

Feel free to also leave a comment here or send me an email with the money-saving tip you included, if you included one!

From My Inbox

Here are some of the deals and information that I received in my inbox this week:

*Candace at "Deal"ectible Mommies wanted me to let you know that you can save $30 on a 6 pack of gdiapers (hybrid of cloth and disposable diapers) which will get you 6 of them for just $40.00 (an amazing savings!). Just enter code - g1151trino - to get the $30 off.

Collective Wellbeing

Collective Wellbeing is a company that makes skincare, body care, and hair care products. Their products are 100% guaranteed and you will be impressed with their offerings. They have very unique products such as bamboo body scrub and charcoal body wash. Check out their site here.

I recently hear from Karen and Amy (thanks, ladies!) about how you can become a product tester for Collective Wellbeing and not only get products to try but earn rewards (i.e. free products) for helping them out.

I applied and was accepted. I received 2 small bottles to test and then a short survey to fill out. In a few weeks I will have a code so I can get some FREE products from the Collective Wellbeing product line. I love doing product tests and what a great reward for doing it!

My Shopping Trip: Publix

As you can see I went shopping today! I don't usually post my trips on the blog (only the CVS and Walgreens ones) but I have had a few emails from people who want to see what I buy! I'm afraid it is probably not so exciting! I bought 19 items at Publix this morning and spent just $19.02! I thought that was pretty good and I used coupons on every item I bought!

Without detailing every item, here are the highlights:

Sara Lee Dessert products, 50% off
Some were $3.99 regular price
With 50% off plus the $1.00 coupon they were $.99 each!

Steamfresh Vegetables, 50% off

Post Trail Mix Crunch, BOGO
Used 2 printable coupons for $2.00 off

This was a very successful trip and I even found 4 new Publix coupon booklets in the store! I love Publix coupon booklets, I'm off to clip and file right now!

My Shopping Trip: Target

I had to return something at a store near Target this morning and decided to see what was a good deal this week. We don't have any Super Targets in my area so my Target is just a regular one. Before I went I checked out Collin's comprehensive Target match-ups post on Hip2Save. It took me about 15 minutes to go through it and get my coupons ready. Because I had shopped at Target 3 weeks ago, I already had purchased many of the freebie items on her list.

I only had 13 items on my list and completely stuck to it. I had one coupon per item and ended up spending just $4.77 on all 13 items. Since the time before last when I had trouble with the cashier at Target, I was very calm when I approached and just told her not to scan some of the coupons, that she would have to enter them manually since the coupon amount exceeded the purchase price. She knew how to do it and the transaction went smoothly. That made me happy! Here's what I got:

Hamburger Helper, On sale for $1.52 each
Bought 3
Used $1.00 when you buy 2 Target coupon
Used $.75 manufacturer's coupon

Vaseline with Aloe Lotion, travel size, $.97
Used $1.00 coupon from the blue widget on my right sidebar
Bought 2 and used 2 coupons (cashier has to adjust coupon down)

Dove Visibly Smooth Deodorant, $2.29
Used $1.00 Target coupon from newspaper
Used $1.25 manufacturer's coupon

Purell Travel Size Hand Sanitizer, $.99
Used $.60 manufacturer's coupon

Almay Eye Make-up Remover Pads, $1.00 (travel size)
Used $1.00 Target coupon

Nexcare travel size band-aids for kids, $.97
Used $1.00 printable coupon
Bought 2 and used 2 coupons

Rayovac Batteries, $1.00 (in dollar section in store)
Used $1.00 manufacturer's coupon from newspaper
Bought 3 and used 3 coupons

My total was $4.77 and I saved $12.83 according to my receipt!

All You Grocery Challenge!

I was flipping through my new issue of All You Magazine this weekend and came across this fabulous challenge/contest that I thought you may be interested in.

All You is sponsoring a grocery challenge. The winner will receive a $1,000 grocery card and a year's supply of Knorr's side dishes as well as a feature in All You Magazine. All very fabulous prizes!

The challenge is for you to spend no more than $25 per person per week on groceries. That's $100 per week for a family of 4. I know my readers can do this! Eating out counts towards your total but household supplies and toiletries do not.

You can register for the contest here. You must register by July 12. You will receive weekly emails with ideas and tips and then at the end of the four week period (beginning July 13) you'll get an exit form so that you can fill in your information and enter the contest officially.

Keep track of your spending on their online log and remember to save your receipts to show proof if you are selected as a finalist. You can read more details and contest rules here. Good luck!

Nature Valley Nut Clusters

The people at My Blog Spark emailed me to see if I wanted a sample of the new Nature Valley Nut Clusters to review for my readers. I enjoy Nature Valley products and said I would gladly try their new products. I received full-sized bags of all four (4) varieties - Roasted Almond, Roasted Cashew, Honey Roasted Peanut, and Nut Lovers.

Each kind has nuts, granola and honey as its main ingredients. The clusters are bite-sized and are crunchy. They are savory from the nuts yet sweet from the honey at the same time. I received 5 ounce packages which contained 5 servings as per the nutrition label.

I loved the the bags were resealable and that they were high in fiber and protein. Although cashews are my favorite nut, I liked the almond variety the best! I haven't seen these in the stores yet but they are definitely on their way! Thanks, My Blog Spark!

Yo-Baby Review and Giveaway

Stonyfield's Yo-Baby Yogurt is marking its 10th anniversary this year by reformulating its yogurt to include Vitamin D and zinc. Both of these vitamins will assist in building your baby's immunity and aid in the development of strong bones and teeth. It is still all natural and certified organic which means it is made from cow's milk - cows that are feed only organic grain.

We all want what's good for our children and feeding them YoBaby yogurt is a good start! It comes in a variety of flavors and is for babies six (6) months an older. The packaging was recently changed to be more environmentally friendly and now 17,000 pounds of packaging are saved from landfills because of the change.

There are four (4) types of YoBaby yogurt - simply plain, original yogurt, plus fruit and cereal and drinkable yogurt. I don't have any babies but one of my co-workers children (an 18 month old) was very happy to try this great product - and she LOVED it! It is creamy with a nice rich texture - plus all of those great vitamins and minerals! You definitely feel good feeding your child a product with such healthy ingredients.

The folks at Stonyfield have graciously decided to give one (1) of my lucky readers the fabulous prize pack pictured above, including a YoBaby bowl with lid, an organic YoBaby bib, and five (5) coupons for FREE YoBaby products. To enter, you MUST visit the YoBaby website and read about their products. Then come back to my blog and leave a comment in this post letting me know which flavor you'd like to try. Make sure to leave your email address so I can contact the winners.

There are six (6) "extra" ways to enter (each one below gets you one additional entry):

1. subscribe to my blog (either via email using the box in the left sidebar or RSS feed). If you already subscribe leave a comment saying you do. If you subscribe by email you MUST confirm your email and activate the subscription.

2. follow me on Twitter (http://twitter.com/NicolesNickels) and tweet about this giveaway. If you already follow me that's fine, just comment with a link back to the tweet about this giveaway. You must tweet about the giveaway for this entry to count.

3. blog about this giveaway (leave the link in the comment)

4. email 5 people about this giveaway (please cc me on this email - nicolesnickels at gmail dot com and leave a comment saying you sent the email)

5. grab my button for your site (leave the link to where the button is in the comment)

6. add the link to this giveaway on a Mr. Linky about giveaways or on a blog giveaway site, blog carnival or forum or yahoo group (leave link to where you did this in the comment)

You MUST leave a comment answering the question above as your first entry and then additional entries are governed by the terms above. You MUST leave a separate comment for each entry you are able to make. Feed and email subscribers will need to click on to my actual blog to leave a comment. This giveaway is open to U.S. residents only, 18 years old or over, and the winners will be chosen by random.org. This giveaway will be good until July 5 at 9:00 pm Eastern time and a winner will be announced soon thereafter. If the winner does not respond to my email within 48 hours then I will pick a new winner. Good luck!

CVS Advisor Panel

Many of you emailed me after my post on Sunday about how I got $10 in ExtraCareBucks for completing a CVS survey.

I did it because I am signed up for the CVS Advisor Panel. I have been signed up with them for about 8 months and this is the second $10 survey I have received. It's FREE to sign up and they are accepting new participants now. You just link your ExtraCare card to your account and then get paid for completing occasional surveys in ExtraCareBucks!

Kernel Season's Review and Giveaway

I was so excited to get my review pack of Kernel Season's products. I love popcorn and the idea of all of the different seasonings they sell to put on your popcorn intrigued me. I was not let down! I received the same pack as the giveaway winner will (a bag of stovetop popping corn, three (3) bags of microwave popcorn, popcorn spritzer, and six (6) different seasoning flavors) and was popcorn happy for a couple of weeks! The popcorn (whether air popped, stove popped or microwaved) were all fresh and delicious tasting. The best part, by far, though, were the spritz and the seasonings.

The spritz is butter flavored and has 0 fat and 0 calories. It is made with no carbs and no trans fat and when you use it the seasonings have something to stick to on the popcorn. I would spray some of this on the popcorn while it was hot and then sprinkle my choice of seasoning on the popcorn.

Kernel Season's currently has fourteen (14) different types of seasoning ranging from the savory to the spicy to the sweet. There truly is a flavor for everyone here! I sampled white cheddar, butter, nacho cheddar, parmesan & garlic, ranch, and kettle corn. I found each one to be very distinct with a strong flavor. A little sprinkle goes a long way and my boring old popcorn was now something unique!

Some popcorn facts:
*popcorn is 24 calories per cup
*popcorn became popular during the Depression because it was so affordable
*500,000 TONS of popcorn are produced each year in the U.S.
*Popcorn can pop as high as three (3) feet

The folks at Kernel Season's have graciously decided to give one (1) of my lucky readers a fabulous assortment of their products, including a bag of stovetop popping corn, three (3) bags of microwave popcorn, popcorn spritzer, and six (6) different seasoning flavors. To enter, you MUST visit the Kernel Season's website and read about their products. Then come back to my blog and leave a comment in this post letting me know which flavor of seasoning you'd most like to try.

Good luck!

E.L.F. Cosmetics

I first heard of E.L.F. cosmetics when I received a forwarded email exclaiming that E.L.F. cosmetics were really Nordstrom cosmetics at clearance prices. While this email did not turn out to be true, what is true is that these cosmetics are priced extremely low and with their incredible coupon codes you can buy great cosmetics at a very reasonable price, many items priced at just $1!

Make-up trends often come and go but with rock-bottom prices like these you'll want to try out the latest craze - purple mascara, black nail polish, etc. Buy away - it's cheap! These make great gifts also.

Right now, they have an awesome deal going on where you get 15 $1 items for just $5! E.L.F. cosmetics is celebrating their 5 year anniversary and is offering 5 FREE items when you buy 5. So you add 5 items that cost $1 to your cart. Keep shopping - your cart must have at least $10 worth of items in it. Then when you check-out use the code 5FOR5FREE and you'll get the 5 $1 items for FREE! It also says that you will get a $5 giftcard so that makes everything FREE!

Some other great coupon codes to use are:

*5FOR5WOW - get 50% off minerals

*EGMINERALC - get 25% off minerals with $25 or more order
*DINEOUT - spend $20 and get a $25 Restaurant giftcard

*2SHIP - $2 shipping on a purchase of $25 or more

*CELLPHONE - FREE Hypershine Mini Cell Phone Lip Gloss Charm with ANY purchase

*MANICURE - FREE manicure set with order of $20 or more

CVS 6/21-6/27

As always, the Frugal RI Mama, Karen, has this week's deals and match-ups at CVS.

If you're new to shopping at CVS, please read my CVS 101 post here.

Here are Karen's finds at CVS for you this week:

SoyJoy Bars, On Sale 4/$4.00, Get $4.00 ECB's when you buy 4 (limit 5)
Use (2) BOGO Free cpns in 05-31-09 SS insert
Buy 4
Final Cost: FREE + $2.00 Money Maker -

Tylenol, any Pain Reliever 20-24 ct, On Sale $4.99 Get $2.00 ECB's (limit 3)
Use $1.00 cpn in 06-07-09 RP insert
Final Cost: $1.99

ThermaCare Neck to Arm Heat Wrap, On Sale $2.49 Get $2.49 ECB's
Final Cost: FREE

My Trip

I have a lot of ECB's but none of them expire this week so I'm holding out for some better deals unless something unadvertised pops up this week. Some other CVS deals this week I am seeing are:

SOBE Lifewater - BOGO FREE
Use the BOGO coupon from the coupons.com blue widget on my right sidebar
OR the one from this month's Rolling Stone Magazine
The deal then becomes Buy 1, Get 2 FREE
(You may see other blogs advertise this then as 2 FREE but that is not CVS' policy. I have called several times regarding this and have consistently been told that it would be Buy 1, Get 2 FREE with a BOGO sale a BOGO coupon)

French's Mustard, On sale for $1.00
Use the $.75 coupon from the 5/10 Sunday newspaper
OR the $.50 coupon here
Pay as little as $.25 for the item

Walgreens 6/21-6/27

Karen at Frugal RI Mama has this week's deals and match-ups for you.

For more information on shopping at Walgreens please read my Walgreens 101 post here.

Here are some of the deals Karen found for you this week:

Aquafresh, On Sale $3.00
Get $3.00 RR (Register Reward)
Final Cost: FREE after RR

Speedstick or Lady Speedstick, On Sale $2.99
Get $2.00 RR
Final Cost: $.99 after RR

Skintamate or Edge Shave Gel, On Sale $1.99 with in ad coupon
Use $1.00 Edge cpn in 05-17-09 SS insert
Final Cost: $.99

My Trip:

I don't have any RR's expiring and I really don't need any more toothpaste! I won't be heading there this week unless an unadvertised deal (a la the lens cleaning cloths at CVS this past week) pops up.

Just a heads up on a few other deals you may want to look at if you go to Walgreens this week!

The Organix shampoos and conditioners are BOGO this week. Look for the ones with the "Try me FREE" peelie on them. Buy 2, you'll get 1 FREE and then submit the rebate for the other and get both of them for FREE! I already did this deal (and received the rebate very quickly) so I can't do it again.

The Accu-Check Meter is $14.99 and you get $5 RR - there is reportedly a rebate for $14.99 in the box that you can submit and so it's a $5 MONEYMAKER!

Life Settlements

The folks over at Quantum Life Settlements asked me to review some information about their life settlements to see if it was something I wanted to share with my readers. Based on the reader survey I did a couple of months ago, I know that my readers come from all backgrounds and so I thought maybe this information will be helpful to at least one of you! The information that follows is directly from the materials I received from Quantum Life Settlements.

What is a life settlement? It is when the owner of an unwanted life insurance policy sells that policy to a third party for a one-time cash payment.

Does every owner of a life insurance policy qualify for a life settlement? No. The criteria are: at least 70 years old, life expectancy between 2 and 15 years, has an existing life insurance policy with a death benefit of at least $500,000, and no longer needs the coverage, among other criteria. To see if you or a loved one qualify, you can take the Online Qualifier Tool by clicking here.

Why a life settlement? For some in this economy who have an unplanned loss of income and are unable to work any longer, the need for cash may be dire. Life settlements allows you to get a one-time cash payment at a time when you (or a loved one) needs it most.

You can request a FREE DVD and information packet from Quantum Life Settlements by clicking here.

Please be advised that I am not a financial planner and am in no way recommending a specific product or company. This post is for informational purposes only and I strongly encourage you to consult a financial planner or other financial professional to assist you with your financial planning.

TJMaxx and Marshalls - Your Father's Day Gift Connection!

A few weeks ago I posted about TJMaxx and Marshalls' Spendervention campaign and the great deals that I was able to get with the giftcards they sent me. I was recently contacted about their Father's Day campaign and was excited to receive my giftcards with the challenge of spending $25 on gifts for dad for Father's Day!

Armed with my giftcards I browsed TJMaxx and Marshalls and was amazed at what I found! They have a large selection of great gifts for dad at up to 60% off regular retail prices. Many of the items I had seen previously at big name department stores for a lot less money! Impress dad by being able to give several gifts - you can even choose them based on a theme as I did with my 3 scenarios!

Each scenario below totals approximately $25. Just a heads up - if you shop at TJMaxx this weekend (June 19-21) you will get a FREE reusable bag with purchase.

Scenario #1
For the Golfing Enthusiast Dad:
Golf Bag Drink Cooler, $6.99
150 Golf Tees, $7.99
Golf Ball Monogram Stamper, $9.99

Scenario #2
For the Sports Enthusiast Dad:
Executive Football Target Toss, $14.99
Talking Dart Board, $9.99

Scenario #3
For the Style-Conscious Dad:
American Crew Classic Trio Set (Daily Moisturizing Shampoo, Classic Body Wash, and Classic Fragrance), $9.99
Nike Golf Tri-Fold Wallet, $14.99

There were many other options available to suit your dad's needs - from grilling gurus to exercise addicts, TJMaxx and Marshalls had something for every kind of father - and at an astonishingly low price!

Internet Explorer and Blogger

Blogger has been having some issues with Internet Explorer in the past month and many of you have emailed me with your frustration at not being able to open my blog (and other blogs) at times. We were first told it had to do with the followers widget but I don't even have that on my blog. I often get the error message (operation aborted) when I access other blogs off their feed in my google reader.

Unfortunately, I don't have a solution to the problem though hitting the "back" button after getting the error message often corrects the issue for me. A more practical solution is to download and use Firefox as your default browser. I am definitely an IE girl but in the past month have been using Firefox (because of the issues with IE) and am thrilled with it. I don't get the error messages and am impressed with its features. Best of all? It's FREE to download.

$2 Old Navy Tanks, Saturday, 6/20 ONLY!

Starting when the stores open tomorrow, Saturday, June 20, 2009 and for that day only, Old Navy is offering its ribbed tank tops for women and girls for just $2 each!

There is a limit of 5 and you have 50 styles (solid, striped, embellished, and print) and colors to choose from!

You'll want to go early for the best selection!

Feedback Plus

Feedback Plus is a new mystery shopping company for me. I have completed two (2) shops with them and was paid extremely quickly on both which makes me happy! I didn't get any questions from the editors - I didn't even get any feedback at all which is rare with mystery shopping. I don't mind and found the shops I did with them to be straightforward with a fair report for the compensation I received.

As always, it's FREE to sign up with any mystery shopping company that I post about here. You'll need to sign up and agree to their terms of confidentiality before seeing who they do shops for and where. For me, they have a range of restaurant and retail shops that I don't mind doing and seem to have very fair compensation for the tasks you are asked to perform. To sign up, click here.

To learn more about mystery shopping, please read my Mystery Shopping 101 post. For a list of other mystery shopping companies I have discussed click here.

Mid-Week Deals

There are some fabulous mid-week deals this week that will even earn you money while you buy items!

CVS
There is a deal this week where when you buy 2 items from the sunglasses area you get $10 in ExtraCareBucks. Apparently, the lens clothes are working for this deal and they are only $.99! So you buy 2 for the deal, pay $1.98 plus tax if applicable and then get $10 in ECB's! You can only do this deal once per ExtraCare card.

The products are reportedly found in the sunglasses or reading glasses carousels (at the bottom) or in the eye care aisle. This may be a search! Valid UPC codes appear to be:
8 830190050 7 (Lens Cleaning Tissue)
0 30048 47128 9 (Lens Cleaning Tissue)
0 30048 47129 6 (Lens Cleaning Tissue - 20 count pre-moistened)

Supposedly the car cleaning cloths ($.99) and the glasses cases ($1.99) are also working for this deal. This is an unadvertised deal and I can't guarantee it will work for everyone. You can always return the products if the ECB's don't print!

Walgreens
Oreo Cakesters are on sale at 2 for $5.00 with a $3 Register Reward when you buy 2. Buy 2 and use 2 coupons (for $1.00 off of 1) from this past Sunday's newspaper. Pay just $3.00 for the 2 boxes and then get $3 in Register Rewards back. Makes them FREE after Register Reward!

If you don't get 2 papers, ask around to see where you can get another set of coupon inserts. Friends, family, neighbors, co-workers - someone is bound to get the paper and not even look at the coupons!

Target
Kraft Mayo is on sale for $1.99. Use the $1.00 off coupon from the 4/26 Sunday paper or the one we all printed last month from Kraft. Pair your manufacturer's coupon with the Target printable and the item is FREE!

The large bottles of Dawn Pure Essentials are on sale for $2.09 this week. Use the $1.50 off coupon from the 6/7 Sunday paper and pay just $.59 for a BIG bottle of dishwashing liquid!

"Wedding Day" tells the story of 6 couples as they plan their weddings with the help of celebrity event planner and food critic Alan Dunn and celebrity wedding producer and designer Diann Valentine. Each couple is very special having been specifically picked out of how much they deserve a special wedding.

Starring Holly Hunter as a gutsy police detective, the critically acclaimed show focuses on the detective's tough life at work investigating brutal crimes.
